Thinking in Cursive

Look at this, I made a blog! And you're here, reading it! Wow, I'm honored. Thanks for that! You're good people, I always said so.

I've been keeping a steady writing practice since I was seven when I received a small diary for my birthday. It had a plastic lock and matching tiny plastic key and the pages were split into light pink, light purple, and light blue. I wrote about how much i hated my sisters, how much I liked my friends. I wrote many pages on the gross smell and taste of broccoli and wondered when I'd be grown up because I had no doubts that I'd be a famous author and illustrator for children's book. Because seven-year-olds have strong opinions on such things, I spent nearly 1/3 of those pages dissecting my hatred of the color pink.

So I've been writing for nearly as long as I able to hold my Lisa Frank pencil. I've been hesitant to jump from personal diary to public megaphone because even as a seven year old, I knew my entries were private and not set in stone. A few pages after I finished the pink section of my diary, I wrote that I didn't really mind the color after all. (What a self aware seven-year-old!) The writing process is so personally connected to me that it's hard to invite others into my process. Besides, I actually like my handwriting and I know I think better in cursive.

I'm learning this on the fly so bear with me. I'm hard at work getting this up and running and I appreciate your patience. If you like what you see, feel free to let me know—I like feedback (and validation).

If you don't like what you see, well keep that to your dang self.

I'm kidding. Tell me everything.

Again thanks for being here. You're amazing.

Okay, back to it.
