There's something so fulfilling and complete about taking a swath of text and finding all the tiny ways to showcase the words. Despite popular stereotypes, editors are not grammar sticklers, wielding their red pens in righteous defense of archaic rules. Editing is about nuance, voice, intent, and most of all, the words. Like good lighting designers to the stage, professional editors serve the words, always striving to make them shine.
